Bonding over Revlon Balms with Audrey!

Bonding over Revlon Balms with Audrey!

My niece Audrey is pretty fierce. In fact, she’s probably one of the coolest chicks I know. So when she came to visit a few weeks ago, I had to have her join in the beauty blogger fun!

Now I have already reviewed the Revlon Lacquer and Matte Balm formula, so I’m going to use this post to give some advice to the young Audreys of this world (with some swatches at the end, of course).

Revlon Matte Balm Audacious 4
Dear Audrey (and young teens everywhere), Regrets… I’ve had a few. So do as I say, not as I do.

Don’t over pluck your eyebrows. Fashion trends come and go, but eyebrows are NOT forever. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

These photos show my brows with some pencil filling them in. SO SPARSE!

Your hair… do NOT dye it black. No matter how cool you think it will look. It took me 3 years to get my natural color back. Pink, purple, even red. Go for it. Black will make your hair… dead.

You may be tempted by tanning and glow, but your fair skin will thank you. Tanning beds… just say NO!

If I could tell my 13-year-old self one thing, it would be to cover myself in SPF every damn day.

Let’s talk piercings, shall we? Those holes in your face heal but do leave a scar. Make sure you’re ready for this, no matter how old you are.

Seriously, I have small dents under my lip, in my nose and under my eyebrow. And if you get a nose ring and it always get infected, give up and don’t get it pierced again (oh the stories I could tell of my trip to the ER with a nose stud stuck in my nostril).

Have fun, be young for as long as you can. Be bold. Be fearless…

Because at the end of the day, all that really matters is what YOU think of YOU. You’re intelligent, independent, strong and amazing. Stay true to who you are and don’t let anyone make you be something you’re not.

Now onto the make-up!

I loved this post!!!! Sounds like Audrey will always have a wonderful aunt that she can talk to when she needs it. I wish I’d had an aunt like you.

    • She’s an amazing kid… err… young woman. Very talented and considerate, even went to leadership camp this summer. I love spending time with her 🙂

  • Beautiful post and pictures to match. Very touching and SO SO TRUE! I second everything. I was a sun worshipper myself and never even though of applying sunscreen until a few years ago! I’d kind of love to see some pictures of you with black hair and piercings now! Now you’ve got me curious! Audrey is gorgeous. No dyeing, plucking, or tanning needed for that beautiful girl!

  • love the advice in this post! so cute and true! Audrey is gorgeous. Hehe I have nose and eyebrow scars too although they don’t bother me at all, I am definitely tempted by more piercings!

  • I just found this post through the related posts list, and I love it! Every ounce of this post rings true…from the black hair to the lip scars. AUGH, youth! Why do we feel we are so infallible?!
