I am a bit obsessed with Kat Von D Beauty’s…
As part of Burberry’s Runway makeup look for S/S 2016, Velvet and Lace, the Runway Palette in Optic White gives a subtle veil of illumination and helps you create those runway supermodel cheekbones.
Featuring intricate and illuminating lace-inspired detail, dark and impactful red hues, and metallic accents—influenced by the ‘Functionregalia’ womenswear show and hand-embroidered gold work shown on the Burberry runway.
The lace detail starts outside the box with a plastic overlay with a similar design to the powder.
The gunmetal compact has the same Burberry plaid design as the other blushes and highlights I’ve tried from the brand. Sleek, modern and high-quality.
… I hope you’re sitting down because this is breathtaking…
The powder is a snow white with an almost silvery finish. It’s translucent and soft but not extremely buttery and hyperpigmented like other highlight powders.
Now I already have a white shimmer highlight, Becca Pearl. And although the shades look similar, there are subtle differences. Burberry Optic White has a bit more dimension and offers a soft sheen whereas the Becca Pearl gives you more pigmentation and shimmer in one swipe. Both are amazing and both have their place in my highlighter wardrobe.
You can see that Burberry’s white highlight has sheer sparkle to it and Becca’s version is just pure shimmer through and through, like a punch of glow to the face.
I brushed Burberry Optic White to the top of my cheeks to really lift and define my look. This gives the illusion of slightly higher and chiseled cheekbones.

This illuminates without being overdone and does not accentuate pores. There is no discernable scent and no powder kick up, just smooth and silky.
Now as far as limited edition palettes go, this one is a real stunner. As a collector, this is well worth the price for me AND as a highlight junkie, the finish of this powder is really to die for.
