Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit in Light review

Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit in Light review

You have probably spotted the Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit at your local drugstore, Marshall’s, TJ Maxx. It’s a great way to try out a few of Cargo’s superstar products without having to pay a ton, and let me tell I am so glad I grabbed this!

Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit Light review 3
The kit I got was in shade Light, and for $29 CAD (regular price is $39, value is $65), I got the following:
Travel size One Base Concealer + Foundation
Travel size TexasLash mascara
Full Size Swimmables Pencil in Pebble Beach
Full Size Bronzer in Medium

Cargo Cosmetics One Base 01
OneBase Concealer + Foundation (Shade 01 – very fair with yellow undertones)
I fell in love with this immediately. It’s a very pigmented, opaque creamy concealer that goes on flawlessly. The yellow tone helps conceal redness and the formula of avocado, chamomile and vitamin E keeps my sensitive skin in check. You don’t need a lot to cover either, just dot in a few places and blend out.

Cargo Cosmetics Bronzer Medium 3
Bronzer (shade Medium)
I LOVE the signature Cargo tins, they are so cute and really rugged. I was afraid the Medium shade would be too dark for me, but it is a perfect warm gold bronze. It is actually the lightest shade they offer in their bronzers.

Cargo Cosmetics Bronzer Medium 2
The product you get it quite generous, 8.5g, and the regular price itself is $29 (USD I believe) making this alone the price I paid for the kit.

Cargo Cosmetics Bronzer Medium 1
The shimmer in the bronzer is very subtle and flattering. Another love at first sight product!

Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Eye Pencil Pebble Beach
Swimmables Eye Pencil (Pebble Beach – brown)
A creamy, pigmented waterproof pencil. Application was smooth, much like the UD 24/7 liners, but unlike the 24/7s this actually did not transfer all day. In fact, I had to work bit to remove the swatches.

Cargo Cosmetics TexasLash mascara
TexasLash Mascara (black)
The only product I didn’t love. It comes with a big, fat brush and gives a ton of volume. I much prefer long, separated lashes for me personally, but if you’re looking for some big fat lashes, this mascara delivers.

I totally get why these were put in the starter kit, they are a good indication of the great quality of Cargo products!

Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Pencil Pebble Beach
Wearing Pebble Beach on the lashline (mixed with Cargo single shadow in Green Bay) and TexasLash mascara.

Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Pencil Pebble Beach 2
I was surprised at how thin I could get the eyeliner since it is a regular eye pencil.

Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit Light look 1
I used One Base in my problem areas (breakouts around the chin, dark circles under my eyes), it blended out really nicely and didn’t get cakey at all.

Cargo Cosmetics Starter Kit Light look 2
On my cheeks, I have on the Cargo Bronzer in medium, applied on the apples of my cheeks and across my nose.

Shown here in alternate lighting, you can see the shimmer effect of the bronzer.

Overall, I am thrilled with the Cargo Starter Kit and will definitely be purchasing a full-size of the OneBase! For $29 (CAD) it was definitely a good value.
And you know what else is pretty awesome? Canadians can grab Cargo from Well.ca!

  • that bronzer is actually super pretty on you! definitely worth the value of the kit 🙂

  • i’ve heard good things about the cargo face products but i really don’t like the tin packaging. the extra time it takes to unscrew/pop the lid isn’t worth it (lol so lazy)
