Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Teal

Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Teal

Teal ombre hair has been go-to look this year, and since dying my hair back in February, I have tried almost every formula out there. So when I got a chance to try the new Clairol Color Crave formula, I was stoked because this is the brand I used to use when I had dark purple hair and the results were always great.

But how does the brand perform with unusual, bold colour? How does it compare to other brands? Let’s see.

What’s inside?
– 2.0 fl oz of cream dye
– an angle application brush
– TWO pairs of high-quality black gloves (I believe these are nitrile and possibly non-latex)

I was overly impressed with the gloves because they were so durable with no tears during application!

What makes the Clairol formula different? It’s a thick cream. Unlike the two brands I have used quite a bit, L’oreal Colorista and Manic Panic, this doesn’t drip or smell. And it’s shimmery!

And you know what else I love? The box shows you REAL LIFE hair swatches of what your results will be. You’ll see in the pics below that my hair actually turned out almost exactly like the middle “after” photo.

The results: murky mermaid hair! I have been doing DIY ombre for months and love the fade on this. There are vibrant strands mixed with lighter green strands. I do this without a brush, simply by rubbing the formula into my hair section by section.

After two washes, the colour hadn’t faded at all. My neck (or pillows) didn’t have any telltale signs of the dye either.

Overall, I am absolutely hooked on the Clairol Color Crave hair dye.
And here’s why:
– For ombre hair, you can get two applications out of each box.
– The formula DOES NOT DRIP!
– My hair feels soft and healthy after (unlike the drying effect of both Manic Panic and Colorista)
– MY NECK ISN’T GREEN! This was my one complaint with the L’oreal formula.

The one and only downside is that the results aren’t AS bold and vibrant as both Manic Panic and L’oreal Colorista, but honestly that vibrancy only lasts 1-2 washes. I am now on my second box of Color Crave (yup, I made the switch).

Clairol Color Crave Semi-Permanent Dye is available for about $11 CAD at Walmart and comes in 11 colours!

  • Ooh, I’ve been super curious about this! I’ve been using Manic Panic for my pink hair, which I’ve been loving. The L’Oreal was actually really disappointing. Might give this a shot, so thanks for the review!
