So I didn’t get to bring a koala home with…
Well the DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea finally sold out online, but you can still grab individual teas online. Plus, I know a lot of stores still have them in stock. Now onto days 13-18!
Crème Caramel Rooibos
No caffeine, rooibos
I don’t love rooibos tea but this one was nice. It’s smooth, sweet and pretty creamy so you can drink it on its own, best paired with dessert.
Ingredients: Rooibos, caramel pieces (condensed milk, sugar, glucose syrup, butterfat, sorbitol, monoglycerides and diglycerides), natural and artificial flavouring.
Medium caffeine, black
I absolutely love irish breakfast tea, and not just because I’m irish. This one is a bit nutty and very bold, plus it has a hint of fruit in the aftertaste. This is quite strong and a good alternative to coffee, great with milk and sugar.
Ingredients: Black teas from Assam, India and Dimbulla, Ceylon.
Coconut Cream Pie
Low caffeine, oolong
Oh boy, do I ever love this one! It’s creamy and milky because of the milk powder mixed in, plus it has this toasty coconut scent and feel to it. This is rounded out with the rich taste of white chocolate. I dipped a biscotti in this one and it was perfection.
Ingredients: Oolong tea, white chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, milk powder, butter oil, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), coconut, toasted coconut (coconut, sugar, dextrose, salt), cane sugar, natural coconut flavouring.
Strawberry Rhubarb Parfait
If you’re looking for a tart tea with a bit of a punch, this one is for you. It’s tangy because of the hibiscus, rhubarb and apple which is balanced out with carrots and yogurt bits. This tastes like pie!
Ingredients: Apple, hibiscus, raisins, carrot, yogurt bits (milk powder, sugar, maltodextrin, modified starch, citric acid), beetroot, strawberry, rhubarb, natural and artificial flavouring.
Chocolate Covered Almond
Low caffeine, black
I was expecting a lot more of a sweet chocolate taste with this one, but instead I got a slightly bitter and nutty feel. That’s not a bad thing though, this is warm and really well-balanced. I added a hint of pumpkin agave to even it out. DEEElish!
Ingredients: Cocoa nibs, roasted carob, black tea, almonds, yerba mate, sugar, natural and artificial chocolate and cream-almond flavouring.
No caffeine, herbal
This seasonal fave was in last year’s 24 Days and I loved it as much then as I do now. It’s earthy/smoky because of the almonds, beetroot and popcorn. But it also has a sweet and tangy layer to it from all the fruit sugars. This changes depending on what you pair it with.
Ingredients: Apple, hibiscus blossoms, pineapple (pineapple, sugar), papaya (papaya, sugar), beetroot, cinnamon, raisins, coconut, roasted almonds (almonds, sugar, glucose syrup, vegetable fat, caramelized sugar syrup), popped rice, natural and artificial flavouring.
