The final few days of the DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea…
Now that we’re into the holiday swing of things, I figured it’s time to wrap up my DAVIDsTEA 24 Day of Tea adventure. You can read about the first three weeks here, and I’ll be recapping the last three teas below plus picking favourites, so keep scrolling!
Low-caffeine, herbal tea
When I first opened this tin, I didn’t notice anything special about the tea until I shook it. Then… I saw tiny little sugar snowflakes. How cute is that? This is a strong peppermint tea with a hint of cocoa. I found it to be a little overpowering so I increased the ratio of water.
Ingredients: Peppermint leaves, cocoa beans, cocoa husk, chocolate drops (sugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, cocoa powder, sunflower lecithin), white chocolate pieces (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, sunflower lecithin), sugar sprinkles.
This tea is STRONG! If you’re a coffee drinker, this can certainly take the place of your morning cup of coffee. But sadly, it tastes a lot like plain red rooibos and not a lot like a gingerbread cookie. I would suggest adding a bit of either powdered ginger or even candied ginger to bring out those flavours.
Ingredients: Rooibos, green rooibos, honeybush, cinnamon bark, currants, candied pineapple (pineapples, cane sugar, citric acid), crystallized ginger (ginger, sugar), maple sugar, white chocolate (sugar, partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil, whey, milk.
Medium caffeine, black tea
So imagine it’s Christmas Eve and you’re brewing up some tea after dinner for guests. Wouldn’t this be the perfect blend? It smells like candy canes and even has candy canes inside! This is a nice, slightly bold, black tea with a true candied peppermint taste. Perfectly paired with… fruitcake?
Ingredients: Black tea, peppermint, sprinkles (sugar, rice flour, partially hydrogenated vegetable oil, corn starch, natural and artificial flavours, cellulose gum, red 40 Lake, mono and diglycerides, carrageenan, titanium dioxide (colour), polysorbate 60), natural flavours.
After 24 days of tea, I think I’ve decided on my favourites… DRUMROLL PLEASE:
- Sweet Almond Green for its sticky sweet almond scent that reminds me of marzipan
- The Spice is Right for that hit of chili pepper
- Cardamom French Toast for its complexity of flavours and breakfast-y scent
- Forever Nuts for literally just being a tin of nuts but still brewing up delicious
- Santa’s Secret because CANDY CANES!
