The final few days of the DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea…
21 days of tea and I still haven’t quite kicked the coffee habit but I HAVE discovered some beautiful flavours and favourites from this year’s (now sold out) DAVIDsTEA 24 Days of Tea advent calendar.
Day 15 – Honey, I Dew
White Tea, Low Caffeine
This is so crisp and refreshing! It’s unlike any tea I have tried with its melon and apple notes. I can imagine this being even better served cold.
Ingredients: Apple, white tea, pineapple (pineapple, sugar), melon (melon, sucrose, calcium chloride, citric acid, natural melon flavouring), mango (mango, sugar), rose petals, natural watermelon flavouring.
Day 16- Japanese Sencha (Organic)
Green Tea, Medium Caffeine
A clean, earthy green tea that has little to no bitter aftertaste. It tastes very much like dark greens and would probably be better mixed with a fruity note.
Ingredients: Steamed Japanese green tea from Mount Fuji, Japan.
Day 17 – Mulled Wine
Oolong Tea, Low Caffeine
I’m not going to lie, I steep this in large quantities when people are coming over because it smells just like Christmas. AND I often mix it with red wine.
Ingredients: Oolong tea, apple, orange peel, cinnamon, clove buds, ginger, natural flavouring.
Day 18 – Forever Nuts
Fruit Infusion, Caffeine-Free
OMG the smell of this one is divine! It smells like apple nut cake and even tastes a bit like it too. The beetroot gives it a hint of earthiness to cut through the ultra sweet. This has layers of flavours that twists and turns as you drink.
Ingredients: Apple, almonds, cinnamon, beetroot, artificial flavouring.
Day 19 – Dark Chocolate Delight
Black Tea, Medium Caffeine
I wanted to love this one so much! It has really promising ingredients but I couldn’t get over this odd unnatural chocolate scent, reminding me of powdered hot chocolate (a dislike of mine). I wanted this to be spicy and woody but it really wasn’t.
Ingredients: Black tea, spiced dark chocolate (cocoa beans, sugar, cocoa butter, ancho chili, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, allspice, clove, chipotle chili, ground vanilla), blueberries, cocoa shells, natural chocolate flavouring.
Day 20 – Moment of Zen
Green Tea, Low Caffeine
Both times I steeped this one was after dinner and it was the perfect close to the meal. It has a nice palate-cleansing effect and even freshens my breath a little because of the floral notes.
Ingredients: Green tea scented with jasmine, blackberries, mallow blossoms, cornflower blossoms, natural blackberry flavouring.
Day 21 – Cardamom French Toast
Black Tea, Low Caffeine
This smells like breakfast and tastes like dessert. Hands-down one of the best and most complex teas I have tried frm DAVIDsTEA. In one sip it is spicy with cinnamon and cardamom, others it is stick sweet with coconut and cane sugar. Great with a touch of milk!
Ingredients: Black tea, cinnamon, lemon peel, coriander seeds, cardamom, coconut sugar, cane sugar, natural and artificial flavouring.
My favourites this week include Mulled Wine, Forever Nuts and of course Cardamom French Toast. 3 more days to go, and the last teas are super festive!
