If you asked me what my favourite MAC limited packaging…
Finally, a line of foundation that caters to almost every skintone! The Fenty Beauty Pro Filtr Soft Matte foundation comes in 40 shades. Yes, you read that right. Not ten shades of fair or medium. Not 20 shades that don’t include warm, deep tones. 40 FREAKING SHADES!
Why is that important? Well you already know that most beauty companies only serve fair to medium or slightly deep skintones. For years and years, creating a line of foundation that had deep dark skintones wasn’t seen as profitable. Well you know what? ALL THE DARK SHADES ARE SOLD OUT AND I AM THRILLED.
So not only does this foundation line include 40 shades of beautiful, but it also slays with a phenomenal formula. The packaging is frosted glass (think Marc Jacobs, and yes this is brought to you by the same manufacturer Kendo Brands). It also has a pump which is pretty important for me.
The formula is what I call Matte as Heck. It is a lightweight watery liquid that dries down quick and sets to a gorgeous matte. The shade does deepen a bit as it dries, much like paint. This is not what I would consider oxidization though, more of a wet to dry shade change. So make sure when you choose a shade, go one lighter or hit up Sephora and test it on your hand and let dry.
In the picture above, I am NOT wearing primer. You can see this has sunk into the pores on my nose a bit and has clung to a few patches on my chin. I tested with a silicone primer (from Deciem) and this problem goes away.
Now let’s talk specifics. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry patches around my chin. I’m 39 and have enlarged pores, and I also have mild rosacea. Finding a foundation for me is damn near impossible, but my current go-to is Estee Lauder Double Wear.
Here is what I love about Pro Filt’r:
- it is the most longwearing formula I have ever tried
- the coverage is medium and buildable
- you honestly do not need setting powder with this
- you can’t feel it on
Some tips to make this the most perfect formula ever for your skin:
- exfoliate and hydrate your skin beforehand
- wear a primer (for me I need a silicone-based primer to make sure this doesn’t cling to dry skin)
- dab this into the skin with a wet sponge/beauty blender
This has replaced the two shades of Double Wear I usually mix together! I honestly can’t believe how well this suits my skin, even though my skin is dry in some places.
So grab your Fenty Beauty foundation before your shade runs out! In fact, grab everything you can from this line. It’s time to show the beauty industry that investing in POC is not just a good business decision but the right damn thing to do!
