The first lipstick I ever owned was from MAC Cosmetics…
Another day, another red carpet premiere at TIFF! For the Tales of Love and Darkness premiere (starring and directed by Natalie Portman), I dove into my Charlotte Tilbury collection, which now includes the new Matte Revolution lipstick in Red Carpet Red.
I decided to focus mostly on movie star cheekbones and a classic red lip, pairing that with subtle neutral eyes.
I used THE SOPHISTICATE palette to create a quick and simple warm brown look. (review here)
This palette is my go-to when I want something easy and reliable as there is no fallout with this shadow and it looks good every time.
I also used the CHIC TO CHEEK SEX ON FIRE blush on my cheeks, but only very lightly to keep the focus on my cheekbones. (review here)
One of the first things I ever bought from the Charlotte Tilbury line was the FILMSTAR BRONZE & GLOW because of the “glowing” reviews. Notice the amazing pull-apart packaging?
When you remove each end, you unfold this well-protected case, almost like waking it from its beauty sleep.
You get a sculpt shade that’s universally flattering on light to medium skintones (and not too shimmery); and you get a highlight shade that is the most beautiful light golden champagne.
I also purchased the POWDER & SCULPT brush to go with the duo because… I couldn’t resist.
The brush is quite weighty and has a very interesting beveled handle that makes it really easy for me to hold.
BAM, CHEEKBONES! I applied the sculpt shade in the hollows of my cheeks, around my jawline and around the top of my forehead. The highlight shade is on the top of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and under my brow. This really does slim down my face and give me a movie star look!
But it’s really all about this new lipstick formula, MATTE REVOLUTION! With Lipstick Tree and Orchid extract, this lipstick hydrates your lips while leaving a lasting impression (like 8 hr+ long lasting).
The pigmentation is phenomenal and the finish is matte with a hint of shine. Seriously one of my favourite mattes and the unique edges of lipstick design make it really easy to just swipe on and go.
This makeup look took me from a 7pm premiere, to dinner and then to a midnight movie. It lasted really well through all of that with only minor fading on the cheeks and lips… and it did make me feel like a movie star.
