Guerlain Météorites Flocons Enchantés (Enchanted Snowflakes) for Holiday 2015 review

Guerlain Météorites Flocons Enchantés (Enchanted Snowflakes) for Holiday 2015 review

Yep, I caved. I bought the Guerlain Météorites Flocons Enchantés (translation: Enchanted Snowflakes) (other translation: luxurious ballz). As soon as I saw the press release info nearly 2 months ago I have been stalking all my local beauty spots, and being from Toronto that was A LOT of different spots. I finally found it online at The Bay and ordered it in record time.

Sadly this has quickly sold out at all my online sources in Canada and won’t be making an appearance at Sephora… but… there is hope as I have seen it pop up at different Guerlain counters at The Bay, Shoppers Drug Mart and Holt Renfrew. Make friends with your local Guerlain reps because they are only getting 5-10 of these per store!

And why am I encouraging you to spend $94 CAD ($80 USD) on some illuminating balls? Because you will be able to see the future! No, I’m kidding but this Guerlain Meteorites packaging makes me feel like a Fortune Teller.

This packaging is definitely beyond anything I own. It has a magical gold reflective embossed design encased in a frosty globe.

And it’s prety big too. Definitely a luxurious showpiece for the vanity (or for in a drawer if you have cats and want to keep your precious balls safe).

When you twist off the lid, you’ll be greeted by this most adorable little powder puff.

There is a mirror on the lid too just in case you don’t have a mirror nearby. But let’s face it, you probably won’t be travelling with these.

Love at first sight…

The Enchanted Snowflakes are actually just handcrafted star-shaped pearls. From what I have heard, these are all made by hand which is why the quantity is so ultra limited.

Inside there is a mix of a few shades: pink pearl, opal, white pearl and gold shimmer. It mixes together to create the most beautiful illuminating effect. Think Hourglass Ambient Lighting in Dim Light only with a lot more shimmer. Plus, the Meteorites have the most glorious scent of violet.

Now I didn’t get a good swatch photo of these because it is really subtle and I didn’t want to manhandle my balls too much (ok, THAT one was too easy).

To show the true illumination of these Meteorites, I completely mattified my face using Face Atelier foundation and Kett setting powder. All the shimmer and highlight you see is Guerlain, on the top of my cheekbones, a bit on the bridge of my nose. You can see its subtlety but damn does it ever make my skin look amazing. And even by the end of the day, I still have a bit of a glow.

The highlight is a very, very pale gold which is quite striking on my neutral toned pale skin. It is so finely milled that it doesn’t accentuate my pores at all. Worth the splurge? HELL YEA.

If you’re looking to treat yo’self, you can grab these at Sephora in the US and hopefully your local Shoppers or The Bay in Canada.

  • Omg I’m so jealous. I’ve been drooling over these too since they came out. It’s just so beautiful and so cute too with those plump little stars that remind me of marshmallows! Maybe if I get a lot of money at Christmas and I don’t buy any other makeup I’ll get these Lolol

  • I laughed at just about every joke you made. WHY are they called balls? I don’t know what else they’d call them, but man. I love how these look on you. The packaging is waaaaay bigger than I expected, but it would look great anywhere. Though yes, a drawer is safest…

    • Well they aren’t technically called balls. But to me, they are balls. Kurt has already stolen one of these when it dropped on the floor. Now we are all magical.

  • My god, these luxurious balls are glorious.

  • Seriously the prettiest packaging ever… and that glow ♥♥♥ I’m really glad it sold out before I had a chance to buy it because the price is terrifying… I’ll be saving up for next year and hopefully they come out with something just as beautiful!

  • The packaging!!!!! I also love all the ball references haha

  • hahaa i love you (other translation, balls, etc). these are GORGEOUS in packaging, contents and application. even scent! i am very glad they are so limited because… money, but if it was not a concern, i would have these and i would man-handle them every day!

  • These are soooo pretty!
