A few months ago, MAC Cosmetics flew a flock of…
Are you ready for the makeup deal of the century? When MAC Cosmetics released their pre-fab Eye Shadow x 15 palettes, I immediately whipped out my calculator and did the math.
The MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow x 15 palette comes in three variations, shown above is Cool Neutral. It retails at $85 CAD, but don’t choke on that price. Let me break it down for you.
To buy it separately (prices in CAD):
Pro Palette – $10
x 15 insert – $3
15 shadows for $8 each – $120
TOTAL VALUE: $133
Other than the savings on price, these curated palettes are great as a starter kit or to boost your eyeshadow collection. Cool Neutrals has a nice variety of mattes, shimmers and satins that all work together complementary.
Flounce: Chalky white pink (Matte)
Sweet Allure: Soft light pink (Satin)
Sun Tweaked: Soft frosty coral (Frost)
After Dusk: Midtonal rosy pink with pearl (Veluxe Pearl)
Blackberry: Muted burgundy plum brown (Matte)
Pick Me Up: Pale ivory (Matte)
Cozy Grey: Cool grey (Matte)
Crushed Clove: Dirty gold olive (Frost)
Deception: Chocolate gold (Frost)
Brun: Muted blackish brown (Satin)
Silver Fog: White w/ silver pearl (Lustre)
French Clay: White grey frost (Frost)
Cumulus: Dirty grey charcoal (Frost)
Pearled Earth: Deep blue grey (Veluxe Pearl)
Black Tied: Black w/ silver sparkle (Velvet)
For this look, I used a mix of the shimmers, lustres and mattes to create a neutral eye that focused on the blue liner (it’s Covergirl, btw).
Using Silver Fog on the lid, I love the sparkly ice look it gives.
So this is just one look of many you can create. The palette, although named Cool Neutral, actually has a mix of cool and warm shades. And each row is really a look in itself but feel free to mix and match!
Now of course, with a palette of this size, you may get a few duds in the pack. And I admit, not all the shadows are amazing (most are, but not all). I found a few of the mattes, Blackberry and Cozy Grey, for example, to be a bit chalky.
BUT if you’re a true MAC addict like me, you also probably noticed quite a few of these shades are EXCLUSIVE to the palette, not sold individually.
So my vote is YES, buy this palette. Available at MAC Cosmetics, Nordstrom, and The Bay.
