The MAC Cosmetics Grand Illusion Liquid Lipcolour is the brand’s newest Lipglass-esque gloss and is packed with holographic shimmer and magic. It comes in packaging much like the Retro Matte liquids, only the cap has a mirror finish. The formula is non-tacky and a bit thick, plus it has a cooling mint feel to it!
On the MAC site, it’s suggested you wear these paired with or over lip liner. I decided to test them out bare though.
Lunar Module – pale blue iridescent pearl
Queen’s Violet – royal purple with blue and pink iridescense.
Let’s Rock – coppered orange with green and yellow iridescense.
Peace, Love, Unity, Respect – green with iridescent pearl.
Peace, Love, Unity, Respect is the most unique and bold shade I picked up, a beautiful shimmery emerald green.
Sadly I didn’t love this on its own. It sinks into my lip lines and is very patchy.
Let’s Rock has a beautiful orange copper to green shift to it. I bought it specifically to mix with the green gloss.
Using the green in the outer corner and Let’s Rock on the centre, I just kind of swiped these on and smooshed my lips together. Looks pretty cool!
But Let’s Rock on its own is STUNNING.
Worn here alone with my easy, breezy Sunday look (brows, foundation, mascara and a lil blush).
I grabbed Queen’s Violet because… purple. Plus that blue shift I thought it would be perfect to mix with Lunar Module, the lightest blue shade.
Like the green shade, Queen’s Violet sort of sunk into my lip lines. But honestly the intense gloss finish and heaps of shimmer you can’t even tell from far away.
Minimal makeup and an in-your-face lipgloss is my new go-to look.
Lunar Module was my top pick because of the light blue and pink shift to it. This would be perfect to mix or top a lipstick. It reminds me of Milk’s new holographic lipgloss!
And it’s really quite pretty on. This is about 2-3 swipes of product to build up the blue shimmer.
Worn here for a night out, paired with a peachy warm eye look (Colourpop’s Fem Rosa She palette).
And for fun, I decided to mix them all together to see what would happen. Pretty cool, right?
The MAC Grand Illusion Liquid Lipcolours are available now for MAC Pro/Select members and launch for everyone Nov 9. Grab it at MAC online or Ulta.com!
