MAC Cosmetics Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish review

MAC Cosmetics Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish review

I have about 15 different highlighting powders, but the one I love the most is MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish. This has been around for quite a few years, popping up here and there for a new collection then disappearing. It has now joined the permanent collection with a new design (the compact is a bit more concave). But the new one is different… I’ll get to that in a bit.

A luxurious velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on, adding buffed-up highlights to cheeks and brows, or an overall ultra-deluxe polish to the face.

Lightscapade is described as a soft, candlelit beige with multidimensional shimmer. The one I have is from a 2011 release, which I backed up just in case it disappeared again.

MAC Cosmetics Lightscape MSF review
If you purchased this gorgeous powder any time after 2011, you may notice quite a difference from the one I have… they are now what people are starting to call “Beigescapades” because of the lack of subtle blue, gold and pink veining that you can see above. The new ones look a bit more shimmery and not as “dimensional” as the older versions, but I have yet to play around with them.

On my NW15 skin, it is a very subtle, finely milled highlight powder perfect to wear every day, and because of the soft nature of the shimmer, it doesn’t accentuate my pores. I would put this up on my list next to Hourglass Dim Light as far as efficacy and formula, although it is quite a bit lighter and has more obvious shimmer.

Now I can’t say for sure what the newer Lightscapade MSFs are like, but if they perform at all like the one I have, I’d say they are a must-have MAC purchase. That being said, I do plan to go in store and play around with then new Lightscapade to see what the difference is. In the meantime, sit back and swoon over this beauty.

MAC Cosmetics Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish is $37 CAD available on and at all MAC stores.

  • That is really interesting that you say MAC have changed the colour in the recent ones. I have Mineralize Skin Finish in Stereo Rose (the most recent release from Fantasy of Flowers) and people were saying how this was different to the previous version. I like the one I’ve got so it doesn’t matter, but why do they do this rather than give it a new shade name?!

  • I absolutely love highlighters, I kind of have an obsession with them… This one looks very pretty, it’s too bad they changed the formula! 🙁

  • i have this too but im not sure it even shows up on my skin? but maybe i’m using the wrong brush for it. i find the more white leanyness better in the winter but i do prefer more champaign color hightlights like watts up.

  • I actually don’t have this one, but wish I would have gotten it. I don’t know if the new ones are the same as the old ones, I know in a collection they were recently released in, they weren’t quite the same. Also, I HATE the new packaging.
