Though I see a few familiar shades from last summer’s “Wash…
Of all the pretty things in the MAC Nutcracker Sweet Holiday 2016 collection, the Peach & Copper Face Compacts were top of my list. I think I grabbed these beauties within 2.5 seconds of the online launch (and you’re about to see why).
Let’s chat packaging. This is unlike any MAC packaging I have seen before, and I have seen all of it. The outside is a flexible vinyl with gold embroidery.
This striped vinyl stretches all the way from the front to back with no signs of peeling or falling apart. Super high quals, y’all!
For size reference, these double compacts are about the size of my hand.
OMG the powder design is out of the world! Both the Peach and Copper Face Compacts come with an Extra Dimension Blush and coordinating Extra Dimension Skinfinish. If you’re familiar with this line, the design is usually a MAC swoosh and the formula is soft, smooth and shimmery (especially those Skinfinishes).
Here are 2x swatches of both compacts so you can see the difference. For someone like me with a fair skintone, the Peach variation is a great, natural day look while the Copper is perfect for a night out.
Peach Face Compact
Tutu Extra Dimension Skinfinish – pale white peach
At Dusk Extra Dimension Blush – warm rose
And because I am a highlight fiend, of course I had to show you a comparison. Tutu is very close to Anastasia’s Crushed Pearl from one of the Glow Kits, only it’s a bit more golden vs.white pearl.
As you can see, the At Dusk blush is very pale but natural. Because of the design, I had to use a stiffer, denser brush to pick up the colour.
I am all about this Tutu highlight though, it is freaking GORGEOUS. Shown above paired with the Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette and one of the MAC Dazzleglass from a holiday kit (review pending).
Copper Face Compact
Whisper of Gilt Extra Dimension Skinfinish – pale gold shimmer
Pleasure Model Extra Dimension Blush – peachy brown
Now you’ve probably heard all the hype around MAC’s Whisper of Gilt. It was originally released in 2012, I think, and it has been repromoted several times since. It sells out every. damn. time. Compared to the other golden highlights I have, well they are all kind of close. I’d say Gilded Honey is the closest but the Extra Dimension Skinfinish is just softer and wears longer.
And here’s my night look! I paired the Copper Face Compact with the Too Faced Totally Cute palette (my current go-to).
I know some people with fair skin are a bit hesistant about wearing these shades, but I promise you they look glorious. For reference, I’m NW20 (NW15 in the winter) and the golden highlight is not too dark or yellow for me.
Now the Copper Face Compact is sold out everywhere online, but no worries because the MAC Cosmetics Nutcracker Sweet collection hits stores October 27!
