I was determined to skip MAC’s Fantasy of Flowers collection.…
Welcome to the new MAC is Beauty collection, one of the biggest MAC collections in history. There are 12, that’s right, 12 lipsticks (mostly new, some repromotes). So for a MAC lipstick lover like me, this is one of the highlights of the year!
The three lipsticks I am showing off today are lustre formula: a semi-sheer finish that has a glossy sheen. I have steered clear of these lipsticks for years because I craved BIG BOLD colour, but I have rediscovered my love for these “hint of colour” beauties with this collection.
(full collection info here)
FRENCH TWIST is described as a light pinky nude.
What I love about this is the high-gloss shine and semi-translucent finish. My issue with opaque nudes is that it looks like I am trying to nude-out my lips but this finish blends right in, so a semi-sheer nude works much better on me.
The only color I had remotely close to this was A Novel Romance, which is a bit more opaque and definitely more pink. Swatched very heavily above to show colour, this is really more like a Glaze finish.
And now my favourite of the bunch… CALL THE HAIRDRESSER is described as a rosey mauve.
This is my easy-breezy lipstick. When I want a bit of colour and shine but don’t want to fuss with opaque colour, lip liners and getting lipstick on my teeth, I will be reaching for this shade.
Now I know Lustres aren’t for everyone. If you’re looking for in-your-face colour that lasts all day, these are not for you. But if you want simple, translucent shine that is really no fuss, try the MAC Lustre formula!
The MAC is Beauty lipsticks are still available online at MACcosmetics.com and in stores now!
