MAC is Beauty lipsticks: French Twist, Notice Me, Call the Hairdresser

MAC is Beauty lipsticks: French Twist, Notice Me, Call the Hairdresser

Welcome to the new MAC is Beauty collection, one of the biggest MAC collections in history. There are 12, that’s right, 12 lipsticks (mostly new, some repromotes). So for a MAC lipstick lover like me, this is one of the highlights of the year!

The three lipsticks I am showing off today are lustre formula: a semi-sheer finish that has a glossy sheen. I have steered clear of these lipsticks for years because I craved BIG BOLD colour, but I have rediscovered my love for these “hint of colour” beauties with this collection.

(full collection info here)

MAC is Beauty French Twist lustre lipstick 3
FRENCH TWIST is described as a light pinky nude.

I don’t have a ton of nudes to compare it to but it is pretty close to Razzledazzler, just a touch more warm/orange but very similar in opacity. Shown above swatched 3x.

What I love about this is the high-gloss shine and semi-translucent finish. My issue with opaque nudes is that it looks like I am trying to nude-out my lips but this finish blends right in, so a semi-sheer nude works much better on me.

Just a touch of nude, a touch to shine. Perfect if you’re going for a natural look.

MAC is Beauty Notice Me lustre lipstick
NOTICE ME is described as a pale lilac.

The only color I had remotely close to this was A Novel Romance, which is a bit more opaque and definitely more pink. Swatched very heavily above to show colour, this is really more like a Glaze finish.

Up close on my lips it does tend to accentuate fine lines. It leaves behind a cool milky purple sheen. (again swatched heavily)

Not sure how I feel about this on me. I think once I get a tan this will look fantastic, or maybe as a layer on top of a darker liner.

MAC is Beauty Call the Hairdresser lustre lipstick 3

And now my favourite of the bunch… CALL THE HAIRDRESSER is described as a rosey mauve.

When trying to find a dupe close to this I rediscovered some of my long-lost limited edition loves! Strawbaby is deeper, warmer and has more glitter. Gem of Roses is close, just not as bright.

MAC is Beauty Call the Hairdresser lustre lipstick
This is my easy-breezy lipstick. When I want a bit of colour and shine but don’t want to fuss with opaque colour, lip liners and getting lipstick on my teeth, I will be reaching for this shade.

Want to know how much I love this one? I even wore it today for a photoshoot I had to do at work! Now that’s a testament to how great this lipstick is.

Now I know Lustres aren’t for everyone. If you’re looking for in-your-face colour that lasts all day, these are not for you. But if you want simple, translucent shine that is really no fuss, try the MAC Lustre formula!

The MAC is Beauty lipsticks are still available online at MACcosmetics.com and in stores now!

Also wearing:
MAC Dirty Blonde Fluidline for brows
Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Brown
UD Naked 3
MUFE Smoky Stretch Mascara
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush ( I forget the shade)
Face Atelier foundation
