I love my lip crayons! I have a huge collection…
Make Up For Ever has released a new line of lip gloss that is both high-shine and long wear! The Artist Plexi-Gloss comes in 35 shades ($23 CAD), from sheer to pearl to opaque.
“This must-have lip gloss imparts vivid color and stunning shine while being completely comfortable on the lips. Its pigments are packed with Plexi Color Technology to deliver up to five hours of color impact while 360-degree, reflective shine beads maximize shine. ”
What I love most about these lipglosses is the innovative doe-foot applicator. It really does allow for even application and helps you get a crisp lip line while doing it. I found I only needed to dip the applicator in the tube once for the top and once for the bottom lip and as you can see, it went on nice and thick!
“The exclusive, artist-designed superflex applicator features a lip-hugging shape that allows for precision and control, and the super-loaded split-tip has a unique contour to sweep on the ideal amount of lip gloss.”
100P – Pearly Light Beige
A translucent nude beige with lots of non-grainy gold shimmer. This took 2 coats to actually show up the way it does above, but it’s a nice neutral everyday gloss!
207 – Candy Pink
Probably my fave of the bunch, this is a cool-tone (leaning quite blue) fuchsia. It is very pigmented and opaque!
304 – Red Coral
This is listed as a “sheer” on the Sephora site, but I found it to be just as opaque as the Pink one above. It’s a beautiful warm coral that really lights up the lips.
405P – Pearly Plum
This was only 1 coat! I love how packed with shimmer this plum shade is, and it is not grainy AT ALL. I was also able to get a nice crisp lip line, which is hard to do with sheer glosses.
502P – Pearly Beetle
So as much as I LOVE the idea of this, it was a bit of a fail on the lips. The shimmer is gorgeous, but it is not as opaque as I had hoped and was a mess to get a crisp lip line with. I will, however, try to make this work with primers (maybe OCC clear lip tar).
Shown above with 2x swatches each.
Here I used flash to show the reflective qualities of the shimmers, you can really see how “BAM! in your face” they are.
The formula is thick but not tacky, think MAC lip glass without the super stickiness. These wear for about 4 hours before I have to reapply, which is above average for a gloss. And the shine? It is OUT OF THIS WORLD.
