Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizers: Smoothing and Radiant Pink Primer

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizers: Smoothing and Radiant Pink Primer

For the longest time I’ve been using a one-size-fits-all primer. It was good, but it didn’t address my actual skin needs. Well Make Up For Ever has just released TEN makeup primers that specifically target and help correct whatever is going on with your skin.

The Step 1 Skin Equalizers are split up into two groups: tone and texture (read more about the whole line here). I chose Smoothing Primer to even out my skin’s texture and Radiant Primer Pink to add radiance and even out my skin tone.

The first thing I noticed when I unscrewed the cap was that these have very thin nozzles to dispense the primer, which means you have full control over how little or how much you want. The MUFE primer I used previously was in a pump and I always ended up with too much!

(And on that note, I also remember one of the MUFE reps explaining that the tinted primers are reformulated based on consumer feedback that they were way too pigmented).

The SMOOTHING primer is a lot like Benefit Porefessional, just a bit thicker. It blends out to be a translucent, silky silicone layer on top of your skin. It fills in pores, evens out bumps and just generally makes your skin awesome.

The RADIANT PINK has a thinner consistency. It is lightly tinted with a pinky-white that adds glow to the skin and evens out colour.

Although the instructions I was given said to use the Radiant Primer first, I threw caution to the wind and started with the Smoothing. As you can see it reduced shine, dimished pores and evened texture. Then I added a layer of the Radiant Pink and it covered up some of my redness and gave my skin a bit of a glow… and made it a bit of a ghostly white.

But when I add foundation on top, my skin looks AMAZING. No redness showing through, no scars, no spots. It just looks even and bright. Way to go MUFE! And as for locking my makeup in? I did notice a slightly longer than average wear time with my foundation and I didn’t get shiny until later in the day (versus the typical early afternoon shinefest).

The Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizers are $43 CAD each, available at Sephora.ca!

  • woah. the pink /really/ cut down on the redness.

  • That pink looks great – definitely something to add to my routine to take away the redness, and maybe add some pop on my undereye area

  • since I ended up with the pink one I snuck back to see your review and now I’m extra excited to wear it although it will be interesting to see what the combo of green and pink do haha the green really helps with my redness already!
