For this year’s Diwali, MAC Cosmetics has released a curated…
I am always on the hunt for a perfect brow solution, whether it’s pencil, powder, gel or cream. Lately, I’ve been playing with Maybelline’s Define + Fill Duo (also known as Brow Satin in the UK), a dual-ended pencil and powder combo that promises natural, full brows.
“The dual-ended pencil contains a Defining Wax Pencil on one end and a Filling Powder on the other, making it easy-to-use for even the brow novice.”
There are 4 shades available (Soft Brown is the only one I don’t have).
Blonde is a very light neutral blonde with a hint of warmth.
Auburn is a medium red-brown.
Deep Brown is a dark, neutral brown.
The pencil is a bit waxy to hold the hairs in place. And for people like me that have quite a gap to fill, it also leaves a nice shade behind that doesn’t wipe off too easily.
The powders only really work to darken and thicken areas with hair, they don’t stick to bald or sparse areas. The format is pretty cool though: the sponge comes preloaded with this creamy powder and you just press the tip down hard to reload.
The only shade that really worked for me was the Deep Brown as the other two were either too light (Blonde) or too warm (Auburn). I drew the top and bottom lines of the head of the brow with the pencil and drew on the tail. I then filled in with the powder to blend it out a bit.
The Maybelline Define + Fill Duo is pretty easy to apply and even works on sparse brows like mine! The only thing I don’t like is these aren’t waterproof at all. Within 5-6 hours, the powder and pencil start to wear off.
You can pick up the Maybelline Define + Fill Brow Duos now at Shoppers, Rexall or online from Well.ca for about $11.99 CAD retail.
