Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil review

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil review

I love creating a little drama with a bold eye pencil, but often I’m left with a smudgey mess (I’m looking at you, UD 24/7 pencils). But the Maybelline Lasting Drama Wateproof Gel Pencils promise 16hr waterproof wear and “high-tenacity” pigments.

The Lasting Drama pencils come in 5 shades ($11.99 CAD). The idea is that the pencil is a hybrid of a typical gel liner in pot form only in the format of an easy-to-use pencil. The result is a creamy, pigmented formula that glides and smooth and doesn’t smudge.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil review Sleek Onyx

The boldest of the shades, this is a perfect, opaque matte black.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil review Smooth Charcoal

A nice matte grey that is a bit sheer on first pass but builds up to a soft finish.

I love this brown shade, it really makes my eyes pop without looking overdone.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil review Lustruous Sapphire

OMG this royal blue is amazing. I often pair it with my fave Benefit They’re Real blue mascara.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil review Cashmere White

White eye pencils are really coming back in style, and not just on the waterline. This one was a bit more sheer than I would like but still a cool concept.

These are all 1x swatches except the white is 2x. Don’t press too hard on these or you’ll smoosh the tip!

I used Sleek Onyx first to tightline the lashline, then I went over top with Lustruous Sapphire.

I added Cashmere White to the waterline but it didn’t stay put for very long. The other two shades though, all day smudge-free wear. And you definitely need some oil-based makeup remover to get it off!

These eye pencils are pretty good! The best performing are the black, blue and brown. The white and grey need a bit more work. These are available beginning this month in Canada and the US!
