One of the more interesting MAC Cosmetics releases of the…
Maybelline’s new The Rock Nudes eyeshadow palette takes the idea of a nude eye look and amps it up. There are 12 shades to help you create sultry, sexy looks with neutral creams, beiges, warm browns and blues in both matte, satin and glitter formulas.
“Dare to rock nude with this 12-shade eye shadow palette edited for edge. Sultry, brooding, daring-whatever your mood demands, this 12-shade palette will deliver the ultimate smoky rock nude look. From maddening matte black to knock out navy, bring out your inner rockstar.”
The top row has some pretty basic shimmers and mattes. I expected a bit more as far as pigmentation from the blue, but the two brown shades are nice for contouring and tightlining.
For this, I used the light neutral taupe matte (bottom row #2) for the crease/transition shade. I applied the deep purple from the bottom row in the crease and outer and inner corners and blended.
I then patted on the gold shimmer from the bottom row in the centre of the lid.
This ended up being a really cool look with nice blending!
I wanted to go a bit icy for the second look. I started with the darker plummy taupe matte (bottom row #3) in the crease and blended out. Then I defined it with the dark blue shimmer in the outer V and outer lid.
I then finished up with the silver shimmer (top row #2) on the rest of the lid and inner corner.
Another great look and I love the punch of silver shimmer (to match with my Becca Pearl highlight!)
This palette has more hits than misses for me and the formula isn’t chalky or powdery in anyway. I was able to blend these out beautifully and build up intensity when I wanted to. What do you think, will you be picking this up?
The Maybelline Rock Nudes palette is available for $14-19 CAD (depending on retailer).
