And now the award for best holiday gift set packaging…
If you love Maybelline’s Vivid lipsticks, you are going to love the new Vivid Matte Liquids! There are 10 shades to choose from, all saturated, creamy and comfortable to wear. But let me set your expectations first, these are not dry mattes like you’re used to… these are semi-matte velvety lip creams with flexibility.
05 Nude Flush is a warm beige nude.
This is very close to my lip colour with just a hint more warmth. It almost leans peach on me.
This is a nice nude lip cream that wasn’t patchy. Sometimes drier matte formulas tend to look patchy or uneven when applied, but this was great.
10 Nude Thrill is a pinker rose nude, very close to my lip colour.
Again you can see how velvety and soft the formula is. It just sits on top of the lips and doesn’t sink in or gather anywhere.
This just gives my lips a hint of pink and even tone.
15 Pink Charge is a midtone bubblegum “Barbie” pink.
The more vibrant colours are where Vivid Matte Liquid really comes to life. Look at the pigmentation and bold colour!
What I love about this formula over drier mattes is that it doesn’t aggravate my chapped lips. This feels so comfortable on.
20 Electric Pink is a hot fuchsia that reminds me a lot of MAC’s Candy Yum Yum.
This cool-toned pink is so in your face and beautiful. It applied evenly and smoothly, and using the edge of the wand I was even able to create a fairly clean lip line!
Here are swatches straight from the tube. This is just one pass using the wand and you can see the creamy, pigmented formula.
Then I blotted and ran my finger over the swatches, which is the best way to set these on your lips. They dry down to a more creamy velvet texture.
While these aren’t extremely matte liquid lipsticks, these do get my seal of approval. Wear time is 4-5 hours, they aren’t transfer proof but they are fairly resistant, and damn do they ever feel comfortable.
If you’re a fan of NYX’s Soft Matte Cream, you’ll love Maybelline’s Vivid Matte Liquids! Available now for $12.99 CAD at your local drugstore.
