Say bye, bye money because the MAC Cosmetics 2017 Snow…
Yep, I’ve been sitting on my review of the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill eyeshadow palette for quite awhile. You see, life got in the way AND this beauty sold out in seconds anyway… but a restock is coming!
(Looking for quick swatches? Head to Kaitlyn’s blog!)
Unlike the last Morphe x Jaclyn palette, this one is in a cardboard case. The Jaclyn Hill Favorites came in the standard black plastic case like all the 35 series palettes.
The shade selection is stunning. Not just neutrals, but a variety of mattes, shimmers, neutrals, colour, transition and highlight. With 35 shades in total and a price tag of only $38 USD, this is a very good deal. (And use code Trendmood to save another 10%)
Unfortunately I didn’t keep track of what shades I used, and to be honest since they aren’t labelled it just added to my laziness. I started by trying the shades in the top left corner and discovered some beautiful highlights and transitions.
To deepen the crease, I went for the berry shades in the palette and popped a rose gold on the centre of the lid. I also used one of the dark mattes as a liner with a dry brush. I was very impressed by the pigmentation!
Next, I wanted to try the warm and rusty tones. These are mostly in the top centre and right corner. I used a few of the matte shades in the crease and they blended together to be all kind of the same shade with maybe a bit of variation.
But that gold in the centre is beautiful and has a very metallic look to it. Again, no fall out and great pigmentation, worn over primer and using a dry brush.
Next, I had to play with colour. For this look, I used quite a few of the shades on the bottom row, the green matte in the crease and the teal shimmer on the inner third. I deepened the crease with the dark green matte and although it took a few layers to build it up, I actually prefer that!
Then I used one of the light shimmers in the centre of the lid to create a “halo” look. For most of these looks, I’m using the transition shades in the top centre of the palette. They are simply perfect.
And then last night for my friend Kaitlyn’s bday, I went pure mermaid. I wanted to test out the royal blue and purple shimmers and was not disappointed. I added the teal shimmer on top because I AM IN LOVE WITH IT.
I also patted on one of the cool taupe shimmer next to the royal blue on the centre lid for a bit of highlight. This look turned out way better than I had hoped, and I am usually not great blending colours together.
Not all the shades are hits for me, although most are. There are a few warmer yellow-toned mattes in here I won’t use, but this palette will work for virtually any skintone. I’d say get this palette. I have no purchase regrets over here!
And now the moment you’ve been waiting for, this palette is restocking July 18 at 8am PDT (11am EST). Go to the Morphe site to sign up for an email when it goes live!
