Everytime I see Lorde, I think “damn I wanna know…
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all spend the summer on the French Riviera? And that’s exactly what inspired the NARS Under Cover Summer 2016 collection, the love François Nars has for the crystal blue waters and chic beaches in France.
This collection centres around the dual-intensity shadows and blushes that can be applied dry for a more sheer, demure look or damp for a bold and vibrant look. NARS has also introduced a new product this season, the Lip Cover liquid lip cream, more on that in a minute.
Let’s chat packaging. Each outer box has an original illustration by contemporary artist Konstantin Kakanias showing a look you can create with the product inside! I am a sucker for LE packaging and am currently hoarding all mine like skeletons in a closet. Maybe one day I’ll do something crafty with it…
Topless Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow is light pink shade with a bit of a peach shift to it.
I love using this as a highlight under my browbone or on the tearduct.
Swatched wet, you can really see the peach shift of the shadow. I like applying this damp to the top of my cheekbones for a nice, sheer peachy highlight.
Pool Shark Dual Intensity Eyeshadow is a gorgeous periwinkle blue with a slight pink sheen to it.
I am always hesitant with baby blue shadow as I am afraid I’ll look like an 80s reject… but this shade right here has changed my mind about blues forEVER ever.
Even swatched dry this has a good amount of pigment. And honestly, I haven’t seen anything like this shade in awhile, but it does remind me of a few shades of the MAC In Extra Dimension shadows (pretty, so pretty).
I used Topless under my browbone and concentrated Pool Shark on the lid, applied with a spritz of Fix+ on the brush.
I then used my finger to blend Pool Shark out a bit into the crease. I deepened the crease with NARS Dual Intensity shadow in Kari.
Remember what I said about using Topless as a highlight shade? One spritz of MAC Fix+ on my brush, pat down into the shadow and BAM cheekbones!
The NARS Lip Cover formula is new (and limited edition), and I freakin’ love it. It’s a very opaque, pigmented and hydrating liquid lip cream. The texture is a bit like MAC Lip Glass as far as the thickness of the formula but it is not sticky at all.
The shade I received, Get Dirty, is a lovely muted dusty rose. The doefoot applicator has a nice edge to it so you can create a nice, straight lip line.
One swatch, pigmentation on point!
And look how pretty! This did not feather at all on me, but no it is not transfer-resistant. The texture is a hybrid of lipstick and gloss, perfect for breezy days at the pool… because my hair did not get stuck on my lips!
I finished the look with NARS Dual Intensity Blush in Fervor, definitely a perfect combination. I am now obsessed with this blue eyeshadow (and I hope I have enabled you all to grab one!)
The NARS Summer 2016 collection is available now at Sephora and all NARS counters.
