Top 5 Makeup Tips for Meet and Greets

Top 5 Makeup Tips for Meet and Greets

With companies like VIP Nation making it easier to get up close and personal with your idols and celebrity crushes, it’s important that you look your best when the time comes.

I’ve been lucky enough to meet some really cool people I’ve looked up to, but I was never photo ready! Here are some quick tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years.

1. Don’t skip the primer
Primer may be one step you usually skip on a daily basis, but now is definitely the time to go the extra mile. Use primers specific to each area: face, eyes, lips. That way, your makeup won’t crease, fade or look patchy while you wait for your big moment.

Nars Eyeshadow Base  Revlon Photoready Primer  Mac Prep + Prime lips

My picks:
Nars Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base under eyeshadow.
Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer under foundation.
Mac Prep + Prime for lips under your lipstick or gloss.

2. Ditch the powder, blot instead.
Sure, pressed or loose powder help set your foundation, but if you go overboard you’re look ashy and like a ghost in your photos. Carry some blotting papers in your purse to keep your face looking shine-free.

Boscia Blotting Linens

I always carry Boscia Blotting Linens in my purse!

3. Be bold!
Choose your favourite feature and play it up. Whether it’s a smoky eye, bold lip or bold brow, pick one and go for it. But DON’T overdo it and go bold with everything.

Anastasia Brow Wiz Anastasia Brow Powder

I typically go bolder with my brows to really frame my face (and I barely have eyebrows). I can’t live without Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash and some Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Taupe.

4. Contour and shape your face.
You’ll be surprised at the difference contouring can make, especially in photos. Define your cheeks and nose with a little bronzer or powder darker than your skintone. Highlight the tops of your cheekbones with a little shimmer powder.

Mac Sculpt and Shape  Hourglass Dim Light

I use Mac Cosmetics Sculpt and Shape duo in Sculpt/Accentuate (the duo has been discontinued but the pro pans are still available). Then I buff Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light to diffuse light and get a nice natural glow.

5. Go waterproof!

I’m not saying you’re going to cry. But it’s entirely possible you might and you need to be ready! Use waterproof eyeliner and mascara and you’ll avoid looking like a raccoon.

Cover Girl Clump Crusher  Urban Decay 247

Cover Girl Clump Crusher waterproof mascara and UD 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner in Perversion help define your eyes and can outlast a good cry!

I’d love to hear some of your experiences and tips for looking amazing in photos! Please share in the comments 🙂
