Topbox Canada Review for May 2014

Topbox Canada Review for May 2014

It has been a year since I was a member of Topbox. So on a whim, I decided to join up again! This month, I opted for the regular Topbox to get a feel for the products they are carrying now. This one contained 4 products, with a chance to add-on a full product for $10 (I paid the money and it never arrived, refunded fully though!).

Kinetics Nail Polish Crazy Daisy
Kinetics Nail Polish in Crazy Daisy – This warm hot pink nail polish was opaque in 1 coat, but it went on a bit thick and ended up bubbling.

Here it is on my ring finger. It extremely glossy, so had I been paying attention and used a thinner coat, it would probably be perfect! This is a full size bottle.
$9 a bottle, available at KinecticsNails.com

Elzabeth Arden Untold fragrance
Elizabeth Arden UNTOLD fragrance sample – It starts out fruity and wears down to a light and delicate white flower scent with a hint of musk. Very feminine. Not my thing but definitely a nice perfume.
Full size $75-100. Available at Shoppers, The Bay.

Estee Lauder Double Ended Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara Pure Color Gloss Rock Candy
Estee Lauder Double Ended Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara and Pure Color Gloss in Rock Candy – Not sure why anyone would need a mascara and a lipgloss in one container, but hey.. why not!
Full size for either is $26. Available at EsteeLauder.ca

Estee Lauder Double Ended Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara brush
The mascara brush is fairly typical and my lashes were a bit thicker. Nothing spectacular but not bad at all.

Estee Lauder Double Ended Pure Color Gloss Rock Candy wand
The gloss was a nice sheer pink with some shimmer to it. Wand was average, fairly thin.

The gloss gives a nice sheen and it is VERY buttery. No grainy texture from the shimmer either. I quite like it!

Clinique Superprimer Face Primer
Clinique Superprimer Face Primer – This is a lightweight and oil-free primer that reminds me a lot of the oil-free Smashbox primer I have. It’s a white creamy texture and does a pretty good job and keeping my makeup on all day.
Full size $29 CAD. Available at Clinique.com

OVERALL: Although I am not in love with any of these products, other than the gloss, I can appreciate the value. For about $14 CAD (with taxes) this is a great value and opportunity to test new products!

Sign up for Topbox. I think the waiting list is only about a month right now.
This is not a referral link… they don’t do that.

This sub box has all high end products. That is kind of impressive but I hear what you are saying about not loving the choices this month.

    • I bet someone out there LOVED this box. I have high hopes for next month!

  • Cute lipgloss. I rarely see lipgloss and mascara combo though, it’s a bit strange in my opinion. I actually don’t like double ended makeup altogether. I like things more.. in order? lol

  • I love the nail color and the mascara lip gloss combo. I think it is really handy 🙂

Let us follow each other 🙂

  • This looks like a good box! The lip gloss is pretty 🙂

    • I really do love the gloss! This is my first box in about a year, I’ll give it a few more before I decide to stick it out.

  • It’s a good selection of products/brands, but not enough to convince me to go back (though I think I saw some people received the new Benefit balms?!). I had the same thought as you – why would anyone need mascara AND lipgloss at once? I guess if you’re travelling? Or in your handbag? I dunno…

    • Some people got a wee sample of the new beneBalm. The thing I don’t like about Topbox is there is no referral system. I’m reviewing and linking to them but no benefit to me!

  • I like that they sent out the dual-ended EL gloss/mascara, but I also wonder when that would come in handy. I think others have received a gloss/concealer duo, which makes a lot more sense to me for touchups!
