This MAC Monday, I am celebrating the launch of MAC Pro…
My pals at essence cosmetics have given me a challenge: create a feminine, romantic eye look inspired by the Victorian era. And I have to do so using only essence makeup products. NO PROBLEM!
When doing some research on Victorian looks, I noticed a very neutral eye, a hint of girly shimmer and a smokey liner. I started my look off using the 2 in 1 Eyeshadow and Liner in Peach Perfect (the top shade) on the lid. This waterproof light bronze is perfect to make the eyes stand out.
I then used a combination of a few of The Velvets Eyeshadows to create a subtle neutral look in the crease up to the browbone. The formula of these are really smooth and just glide on the skin.
I lined my top lashline using the Smokey Eye Pencil in Grey to Meet You and then smudged it in using the sponge tip end. Because of the shimmer in the formula I found this difficult to get even during application, but once it is smoldered out it looks great. I did attempt to use the felt-tip liner they sent but… it wasn’t very good.
I finished the eye look off with the Forbidden Volume Mascara Rebel. I LOVE this mascara. It gave impressive length and some bold volume too.
And here’s the finished eye look! I didn’t receive any darker shadows, so I normally would have contoured the eye crease a bit more.
I was really impressed with the creamy texture and pigmentation of the 2 in 1 Shadow Liner. This did not budge all day!
To complete the look, I wanted to stick with essence makeup only. I didn’t have any blush so I used one of their Longlasting Lipstick in Cool Nude. This worked surprisingly well. I also added a pop of highlight to the top of my cheeks using the other 2 in 1 Eyeshadow Liner I received in Light Me Up.
For lipstick, I opted for something neutral and sheer. Shade is Sheer & Shine lipstick in Cute Nude.
I haven’t used essence makeup in quite a few months, and this eye look challenge really reignited my love for the brand. All these products are just a few bucks and available at Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada as well as online.
