Summer is coming and my pale complexion needs some help!…
The Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham has finally launched in stores across North America. The packaging is stunning and the products are definitely unique. I was lucky enough to receive a few goodies to play with from the collection and I’m pretty darn impressed!
Seriously, this collection is all about the packaging, especially those cigarette case-style compacts. Everything is luxe and very “weighty” making it feel really high end and worth all the dollars.
The Eye Ink in Black Myrrh can be applied dry for a smoky, diffused look or wet for a “sooty black eye”. This gel-creme formula is rich and smooth, plus when you apply it there is virtually no fallout.
Dat packaging, though…
For size reference, the shadow compacts fit nicely in the palm, lots of product for the money you pay.
Now I’ve tried products before that are supposed to give me a “wet eye” look, but I haven’t found anything that actually looks good AND sets well (I’m looking at you MAC Studio Gloss). The Eye Foil in Burnt Anise does both!
The Eye Ink has a phenomenal formula. When swatched wet, it really does create a rich sooty look. Because of the doe-foot applicator of the Eye Foil, it swatches a bit transparent, but when applied with a finger it is quite opaque.
I used the Eye Ink dry in the crease to create a smoky, shimmery transition, then applied the Eye Foil by dabbing some product on the lid with the applicator and patting it smooth with my finger. It really does create a gorgeous wet look and it did not crease ALL DAY when worn over primer.
The packaging for Chilean Sunset matte lipstick is a heavy gold tube, which reminds me a lot of old school Estee Lauder packaging. The lid of the tube has a “VB” on it as well (you can see it in some of the photos above).
Color wise, Chilean Sunset is a bright orange-red. I swatched it next to some orange and corals above for comparison.
The matte formula of this lipstick is amazing. It was so super smooth and an absolute dream to apply. It dried down in a few minutes to be a semi-matte finish and it was fairly transfer proof for at least the first few hours of wear. This felt great on my lips, very hydrating.
Here’s the finished look! I think it all came together nicely. Funny side note: I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why my eyes looked so bare…. then I realized I forgot mascara that day.
