MAC Cosmetics New Year’s Smoky Eye: Soft Brown, Trax, Deep Damson, Shadowy Lady eyeshadow

Just a couple days left until we ring in the new year! If you’re anything like me, New Year’s Eve will be spent at home with a few close friends (in my case, close family). But that doesn’t mean I won’t be getting dolled up. So I spent most of the weekend looking through all my shadows and trying to plan out some possible eye looks. And of course, when I uncovered the palettes on palettes of MAC shadows… I started to play.

My shadows are organized in PRO palettes, usually grouped in looks of complementary shades. The look I had randomly compiled above all centered around my fave shimmer shadow, Trax.

MAC Cosmetics Trax eyeshadow
TRAX is a burgundy-plum with a ton of warm gold shimmer. It has a velvet finish and is a bit sheer but looks heavenly over a dark shade.

For underneath Trax, I went with SHADOWY LADY, a blackened plum matte that is soft and buildable.

MAC Cosmetics Deep Damson eyeshadow
And for crease and definition, I went with DEEP DAMSON, a deep cranberry-burgundy matte. This is a really rich and buttery shadow, and it is almost but not quite a “Marsala” colour.

MAC Cosmetics Soft Brown eyeshadow
Now when it comes to blending out the crease, I typically go with Omega, but for this look I decided to warm it up a bit with SOFT BROWN, a peachy-brown matte shade that looks phenomenal when blended with warm burgundy and plum shadows.

I started with Soft Brown in the crease to help define the shape. Then I went in with Deep Damson over top to smoke out the crease and outer V.

“How ever did she get that crisp shadow line?”

After creating a nice shape in the crease, I brushed Shadowy Lady on the lid to create a dark base. Then I patted Trax on top of it, about 3 layers for extra shimmer!

The last step, blending Vanilla shadow under my brow into the crease to blend it all together. I am pretty jazzed at how this all turned out.
