MAC Cosmetics Captive satin lipstick review

MAC Cosmetics Captive satin lipstick review

The first lipstick I ever owned was from MAC Cosmetics (back before they went international, before they had counters in department stores and before the Estee Lauder buyout). I don’t remember the name of it, but I remember putting it on and falling in love with the formula and that now-familiar vanilla scent.

Every Monday, I’ll be putting one of my faves from my MAC collection in the spotlight. Most will be from the permanent collection (so you can grab it if you love it), but I may on occasion feature a limited edition item and show you a dupe or close comparison. Alright, let’s go!

Captive satin lipstick – a pinkish-plum lipstick that always makes it on people’s “my lips but better” lists. It even made it on to the Plums PRO lip palette!

The finish, as with all satin lipsticks, is creamy and pigmented with a lot of hydrating power. It doesn’t bleed or feather and wears for 6-8 hours.

This is an everyday lippie for me. It’s subtle but takes my look from a regular day at the office to ready for a client meeting.

CAPTIVE is part of MAC’s permanent line and is available at standalone stores, MAC counter, Nordstrom etc., MacCosmetics.com. Retail is $16 USD, $18 CAD.

What would your everyday MAC lipstick be?
