As an effort to prove you can never have too…
If you’ve been struggling to really master the art of the ombre lip, Maybelline Color Blur Matte Lip Pencils may be the answer.
(This post is photo heavy. Hope you’re sitting down!)
These come in 10 creamy matte shades in a retractable large pencil format.
How do they work? Just apply a small amount of product in the centre of your lips…
Then use the smudger end to blur the lines and blend out towards the edge of your lips. Now I am no pro at using these, so I didn’t quite achieve the ombre look as well as my friend Jenn did (read her review here), but I do like the soft matte look these leave behind.
05 Pink Insanity – bright, bold blue-based pink. Think MAC’s Candy Yum-Yum
10 Fast & Fuchsia – a warmer hot pink. This one was especially smooth and easy to work with.
15 Berry Misbehaved – a light berry stain that reminds me of MAC’s Moxie!
20 Orange Ya Glad – I seriously need to get a job naming makeup products. This super wearable and bright orange is probably one of my faves.
25 Cherry Bang Bang – as the name says, this is a warm cherry red.
30 Partner in Crimson – a sexy, deep pin-up girl red. The darker the shade, the more ombre it looks!
35 Plum, Please – dark raspberry that blurs out fuchsia. Left my lips looking popsicle-stained!
40 My-My Magenta – think MAC’s Girl About Town meets Candy Yum-Yum. Blue-based fuchsia with a bit of berry.
45 I’m Blushing – neutral/cool light pink. Not my favourite shade as it was a bit patchy and drying.
50 I Like to Mauve It – light mauve pink, pretty much the colour of my lips. Like the last, it’s a bit patchy.
Overall, I really like these! The fact that they are retractable and very soft makes them easy to apply and blend. My fave shades are Orange Ya Glad, Plum Please and Cherry Bang Bang.
