Last week, I shared my favourite MAC highlight eyeshadow with…
Maybelline’s new Total Temptation collection is hitting store shelves this month and it’s pretty and peachy and some of it smells like coconut!
Total Temptation Washable Mascara – $11.99 CAD
This is the one that smells like coconut! I know it’s weird to put something on your eyes with a scent, but this did not irritate at all. The formula promises to add full volume (the main ingredients are paraffin, beeswax and rice bran wax). But it also provides a softness because of the coconut oil inside.
The brush is pretty basic, just hair fibres that are dense enough to coat all your lashes.
And just a fun little side note: this press package came with a tiny tablet screen that played the video spot! So cool!
Now how did it perform? Eeeeh so-so. This did in fact add volume but made my lashes look a little stumpy.
Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil – $11.99 CAD (lower at Walmart, linked here)
Teardrop-shaped brow pencils aren’t necessarily new, but I was really thrilled to see a cheaper, drugstore alternative! This performs a lot like the Anastasia Brow Definer, using the thicker edge to fill in and the thinner to create definition and “arch”.
And I LOVE this spoolie! It’s small and round which gave me extra control in shaping my brow hairs.
The shade I received, Deep Brown, was really too dark to fill in my brows completely, so I used it to define the bottom head and arch of my brows and it worked so well! The formula also includes a bit of coconut oil in the mix, although you can’t really smell it here.
Total Temptation Eyeshadow and Highlight Palette – $17.99 CAD (lower at Walmart, linked here)
No coconut in this one, but look at this beautiful wave pattern design! This palette has two complete eye looks as well as complementary highlight shades for the cheekbones!
The first eyeshadow row and highlight are peachy, warm neutrals with a hit of gold shimmer. The large highlight shade at the bottom was a bit too warm for me to wear as a cheek highlight (and it was a bit too glittery) but the shadow shades were on point!
Using all four shadow shades, I was able to create a soft warm neutral eye. These aren’t powdery and do blend very well. I think they may be too soft and light to work on darker skintones though.
I love pairing this look with a natural shimmery lip and a simple bronzer. This one is perfect for a day look!
I’m also wearing the Total Temptation mascara here. As you can see it adds volume but no curl or length.
The cooler side of the palette is definitely a standout for me. Look at those soft lilacs! Even the large highlight shade is perfect.
Using all four shadow shades, I was able to create a soft smoky eye, perfect for a date night! The shimmers aren’t too shimmery, although if you use them under the browbone they may be a bit too much.
Just shimmery, soft and gorgeous! You can see there was very little fallout but the shimmer did migrate a little bit.
Paired here with a Bite Beauty Multistick in Oyster Pearl (on the lips), this cool smoky look isn’t too bold. The black shade in the palette is more of a soft, blendable black, and the other shades create soft washes of colour.
The larger purple highlight shade is shown above on the top of my cheekbones. It did have a bit more glitter than I would normally wear, but it looks great paired with this eye look!
Have you tried any of the new Maybelline Total Temptation products? It’s available at pretty much all drugstores, and the lowest price I’ve found is at Walmart (which I am linking to here).
