Alright, I’ll keep this short. I gave Topbox another chance…
Maybelline is killin’ it with new releases this month (and really every month to be honest). From correcting fluid to new glossier than gloss lips to a highlight that will make any MAC addict tear up… get thee to a drugstore!
The City Mini eyeshadow palettes are a new format to the brand. These come in four shade variations, all channeling different “New York vibes”. Retail is about $14 CAD.
The palette I received, Downtown Sunrise, has beautiful pinky shimmers that will make any eye shade pop.
The mattes are really soft and blendable, but you do need to build the contour shade up for it to show on the skin.
And that pinky peach shimmer has a ton of dimension to it. The formula is cream-to-powder and really does stay all day.
If you’re obsessed with colour correcting your face like I am, the Master Camo Correcting Pens are for you! These come in six shades to combat any skin discolouration or problems you may have. $13 CAD retail
Green for redness (all skintones)
Apricot for dark circles (light to medium skintones)
Pink for dullness (light skintones)
Yellow for dullness (light to medium skintones)
Red for dark circles (deep skintones)
I love the consistency of these. They dry down to a velvety powder finish and blend out very nicely. Plus, for any of you with deeper skintones, there’s a beautiful creamy red to combat undereye circles (so you don’t have to use lipstick). I tried the green for redness and peach for undereye circles in the looks you can see below. The peach/apricot is a bit too dark for my skintone but it corrected the F out of those circles.
Now I was not prepared for how I’d feel about the Vivid Hot Lacquer Lip Gloss… I LOVE IT. This high shine, high gloss finish is just like vinyl on the lips. And it doesn’t feather or feel too sticky!
76 Obsessed is a deep magenta.
It applied very evenly and just glided on my lips. Plus as the shade wore down throughout the day, it left a beautiful raspberry stain.
60 Tease is a neutral nude beige. This actually went on a bit patchy and looked HORRIBLE on me, so no pictures exist. Haha.
One swipe swatches. Colour me impressed!
Maybelline’s Fit Me! Blush isn’t new at all, but they’ve redone the packaging and, I think, the formula. 40 Peach is not a new shade either, and it reminds me a bit of NARS Orgasm (only not a glitter bomb).
This is very lightweight and adds a flush of colour and shimmer to the skin. It’s not my all-time fave blush but it’s very very nice!
Hear that? It’s the sound of my heart breaking when I opened my mailer and the Master Chrome Metallic Highlight was broken! So of course, I took pics immediately, swatched and have since repressed it. Phewwww!
Now this highlight I have been excited about since it popped up in my Insta-feed. The shade Molten Gold is lit… just like MAC’s ED Skinfinishes in Oh, Darling! and Whisper of Gilt. The finish is similar, the pigmentation is too. And these are only about $12 CAD. Whaaaat?
And here’s everything together. The shadow palette, lip gloss, blush, highlight. I used the apricot corrector under my eyes and the green one on my acne and rosacea (FULLY COVERED IT). I then set those with Maybelline concealer. You can tell the apricot shade is a bit too dark for fair skin as it kind of showed through the concealer, but damn those circles are gone.
The mascara I’m wearing here is even Maybelline; it’s the new Lash Sensational Curvitude. And it is phenomenal! I’ll be doing a separate review on that. See anything you like? What are you picking up on your next drugstore trip?
And before I go, can I just rave a bit about Lancome’s Teint Idole Foundation Stick? OMG it is a game changer. I have been wearing it every day for about two weeks and my skin actually looks better now. How is that a thing?
