One of a Kind Show Spring 2015: What I Saw, What I Bought

One of a Kind Show Spring 2015: What I Saw, What I Bought

The One of a Kind Show is back on in Toronto, and for Spring there are lots of new products to try out and new vendors to discover!

Anointment
ANOINTMENT SKIN CARE Booth A15 – A natural skincare line out of New Brunswick. They’re top sellers include the kits for new Moms and really cool products for dudes including beard oil!

matter
MATTER COMPANY Booth B04 – A regular at the OOAK show, Matter has a wide variety of natural body and face care for the whole family. I use their Baby Sun Care Cream (SPF 30) and it doesn’t break me out. This time around, they were selling tiny tins of body butter with proceeds going to The STOP Community Food Centre.

Lovefresh
LOVEFRESH Booth A44 – I discovered Lovefresh at last year’s Spring show, and have been addicted to their natural deodorant and body scrubs ever since. You may have seen their products more recently at Indigo/Chapters!

jac
JACQUELINE POIRIER Booth G49 – Although I was on the lookout for beauty-related items, I stopped in my tracks when I saw these handpainted plates. Who wouldn’t want a set of dishes with The Dude, Fresh Prince or a bag of Lays Ketchup chips.

graydon
GRAYDON SKINCARE Booth O30 – Although I have never tried Graydon Clinical Skincare, I have heard amazing things. My friends at Blush Pretty Studios recently hosted an event featuring this local line and I can’t wait to learn more.

Electric
ELECTRIK KIDZ Booth I23 – Again, not beauty-related but I was on the hunt for a Baby Shower gift for Aaron’s cousin, so of course I grabbed one of these badass baby outfits!

Demo
DEMO SOAP Booth N51 – At the OOAK Christmas show, Demo had a gorgeous tiered cupcake soap display, and this show they had DONUTS! Sadly my pic of the donuts didn’t turn out, but check out their cats and dogs, swiss cheese and super funky colourful soaps! And I fell in love with the scent of the Maple Cream bath bomb.

Dalish
DALISH COSMETICS Booth M13 – If you have ever read one of my OOAK show round-ups, you know that I grab something from the Dalish booth every year (and I did so even before I blogged about it). I already have a large collection of their lip and eye products, so it was time to try something new… foundation!

Crate 61
CRATE 61 ORGANICS Booth F47 – Soaps, a plethora of lipbalms and cute rubber-sealed body butters. This made in Toronto company is new to the OOAK show, and the booth was crazy!

Carberry
CARBERRY SOAP Booth I12 – Another newbie to the OOAK circuit, Carberry Soap makes the most adorable cupcake shaped soaps (looks good enough to eat), but they also have an all-natural organic line of soaps in delicious scents like Vanilla and Lavender. Plus their bath soaks are packaged up like Cake Mixes. LOVE the branding!

Beyond the Nail
BEYOND THE NAIL Booth O22 – You may already know Maddy from the blog Spilled Polish, and this is her nail polish line! I was so excited when I ran into her, and I’m proud to say she was the ONLY nail polish booth there. Booyaaah!

Bo
BO by MANSOURI Booth J49 – WOODEN BOW TIES! WHAAAT?! These are so freakin cool, and if I knew anyone who wore bowties, I would have grabbed up a bunch of these.

Artifact
ARTIFACT MASQUE Booth D26 – A 3bbloggersCA fave, Artifact has some amazing face masks (and I love their lip scrub/mask combo). New this show: Konjac Sponges! And their booth was so lush.

Blue House
FROM THE BLUE HOUSE WITH LOVE BOOTH L09 – Lip balms, beautiful handmade soaps, bath soaks. This is just all-natural, all-good body care.

Purple Urchin
PURPLE URCHIN Booth K48 – What caught my eye in this booth was their line of pet care (not pictured due to bad lighting). But after I got past the “OMG I need to get handmade, all-natural soap for my dog” reaction, I discovered their amazing coffee scrub, face care and scented candles.

sweet escape 1 sweet escape 2
THE SWEET ESCAPE Etsy Section – It’s TREAT YO SELF DAY! These decorative plates are made from old dinnerware. Every piece is original and never replicated. I was tempted by this one, trust me.

etsy
Make sure to go all the way to the end and visit the Etsy vendor booths. These small tables give new vendors a chance to get a feel for the show and promote their Etsy stores.

Competition

One of the OOAK show sponsors, Sodastream, is hosting a competition between vendors. The theme this show is “Water” and the first prize is $500!

So what did I buy? Not a ton (and some were gifts that I don’t want to show on the blog…)

OOAKS haul 2
My DaLish purchase this show was the Silk to Matte Foundation (shade 2), made with Sunflower oil, vitamins A, D, E. This settles into skin really nicely and leaves a luminous matte glow. (Can’t make it to the show? Check out DaLish on Well.ca!)

OOAKS haul 1

I had to add to my collection of Lovefresh deodorants, so I grabbed the Sweet Orange Patchouli (it smells like LUSH Karma!).

OOAK Spring 15 haul 2

From Beyond the Nail, I only grabbed 3 polishes although I wanted them all: Daiquiri glitter, Space Cadet holo, Blessed crellie glitter.

OOAK Haul

From Carberry Soap, I decided to go less cute, more natural and I grabbed my Mom a Goat’s Milk and Olive Oil soap scented with natural lavender. (Mom, I know you’re reading this, so pretend to be surprised when I give you this).

Not only do I love exploring all the small businesses at OOAK, but I think it’s really important to support Canadian brands that otherwise don’t get the exposure they deserve. I have always dreamed of starting my own skin care or makeup business, and I would hope if I ever did you would all support me in that venture too!

The One of a Kind Spring Show runs now until Sunday! Will you be going?
